Me an Angel?

On Angels

How the Angels got their Wings

The literature on angels in the shelves of the book-stores did not make it easy for me to find a good answer on this question, how angels actually got their iconographic wings. The answer that angels would possess wings because they are in heaven, like the birds are, or because the wings symbolize best the non-material nature of angels did not satisfy me long. So most books on angels either fall into the category of religion or the esoteric branch of light-workers. Both are lines of thought that are not exactly my favorites. So I tried other paths and began my own research on those wings. It was a surprise to me finding some really good scientifical works on them. I recommend the works of Andrew Collins, Charles Hapgood or Graham Hancock - many informations you can find there that can change your view considerably,

Their researches and results directed me to the oldest testimonies of human civilization. At the archaeological sites of Zawi Chemi Shanidar, Catal Hüyük, Nevali Cori, Göbekli Tepe and Jerf el-Ahmar archaeologists found hints of an ancient cult of vulture shamanism. In the ancient city built and inhabited between 7400 and 6300 B.C., located at Catal Hüyük, many wall-paintings revealed a sort of vulture shamanism. Hybrid humanoids are painted there, very similar to the image of the angels of modern days. I consider those paintings an early root of the modern iconography.

The first representations of humans with wings were found there. Several thousands of years earlier a human with a birds-head and a staff with a bird on its top was painted in the cave at Lasceaux. Although the human was painted with a birds-head and not with wings, his staff reminds strongly on the metal-figurines of the Yezids and the bird-staffs, still in use today. You can easily figure out that the shamanic iconography of the Tree of Life strongly resembles this staff, showing an eagle or another great bird on its top.

Well known is the testimony on ancient events that were written down in the Book of Enoch. It describes the interaction of the hebrew tribe and the culture of the watchers from the point of view of the priests caste, that handed down the records. The Book of Enoch is in fact the link between the vulture shamans or priests and the angelic iconography. In the angelic hierarchies the watchers are not fallen angels, as it is sometimes believed, but only a small group of them actually were expelled and punished, as it is being described in the aforementioned book.

These vulture shamans strongly resemble highly educated scholars, familiar with governmental issues, politics, warfare, navigation and thus much more developed then usual in the neolithic period. Also they were far ahead in medicine, astronomy, architecture and mathematics. In the Book of Enoch this knowledge was demonized, of course. It could not be in the range of interest for the ruling caste of priests that the common folk is beind educated, literated and versed in many fields of knowledge. The Book of Enoch was a successfull attempt of brainwashing. The culture of the watchers may very well be responsible for building the megalithic architectures you can find around the world. They errected astronomical observatories with stone-blocks weighing many tons and the first temples of humankind. Their secret knowledge on architecture, astronomy and mathematic was handed down many thousands of years as you can see in ancient Egypt and Thailand. If we can belief the ancient scripts those watchers were big, compared to the common Hebrew and their skin rather light teinted. Intercultural marriages resulted in difficult pregnancies that could only be delivered by the sectio caesarea. The babies were extremely large.

Those vulture shamans embodied a special function and caste in their own culture, too. The symbolic language in those times was quite directly hinting to the special role in fertility rites as well as the ex-carnatory rites in which they were depicted in the famous wall-paintings. Comparing these informations with my own experiences they indeed were specialists in those rites. So they had an important role in the cycle of life, and in re-birthing rites.
